Mother's Day Attack: Return Of The Smitherines
Most of you don't watch watch Lincoln Ware's TV show on WKRC/WBQC or listen to his radio talk show on WDBZ ("The Buzz of Cincinnati"), so you didn't see Christopher Smitherman (known on this blog as Chris The Sillyman) -- a sitting member of Cincinnati City Council -- go on Lincoln's TV show on Mother's Day and lauch A WAR against The Livingston Family.
A Little Background
My younger brother, Emanuel Livingston, is a producer at The Buzz. Lincoln is Operations Manager of The Buzz. From time-to-time, Emanuel guest hosts Lincoln's radio show. I listen to the show online (they've got an Android App too), and have heard my brother criticize people who blindly follow The Sillyman. Emanuel refers to The Sillyman's followers as "The Smitherines". He objects to the way they follow The Sillyman and/or make excuses for him -- no matter how wrong he may be.
The Sillyman is a master at playing the role as a victim. He didn't like Emanuel's comments about The Smitherines, so, in typical fashion, he went on Lincoln's TV show and started whining about the term "The Smitherines". He claimed the term is somehow an insult to his family and his dead daddy, Herbert Smitherman. Now, as far as I know, Emanuel has never said a harsh word about Herbert Smitherman or anyone else (dead or alive) in The Sillyman's family. (Because we keep it real on this blog, we have asked the question: Where Were The Uncle Tom Smithermans?)
By attacking Emanuel Livingston, The Sillyman hoped to silence one of his critics (or, more accurately, one of the few critics of The Smitherines). It isn't a stretch to think that The Sillyman may have thought he could get Emanuel disciplined, or maybe fired, by whining to Lincoln.
What's Next
The Cincinnati Black Blog believes the 1st Amendment bestows a responsibility on local media to monitor politicians and hold them accountable. In Cincinnati, unfortunately, the traditional press and alternative media sources have failed in this regard. We are guilty. And we pledge to do better. Starting soon, we'll have reports on The Sillyman and the rest of the crew at Cincinnati City Hall. We think you'll be surprised to learn about what's going on.
