White Pepper Seizes Slave Center

[Caution: This blog entry contains profanity and harsh language. If such language offends you, move on to the next entry.]

Make no mistake about it, John Pepper is a rich, white, arrogant son of a bitch who doesn't respect African Americans one bit. I suspect one reason why he doesn't respect Blacks is because he is so used to Blacks kissing his butt because he has a lot of money, instead of kicking his butt because he deserves it. (Yeah, it's a damn shame that white kids from PETA have smashed 2 pies in John's face but Black people haven't done anything -- violent or nonviolent -- to him after all he's done to us.)

Still, the Slave Center -- known to some as the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center -- announced today that Pepper will become the CEO of the Freedom Center effective January 1, 2006. (Now would be a good time for the Negroes in Cincinnati to shout Hallelujah! Massa done come back from Yale to telz us again that wez free and make sure we know how all de white folks had a hand in freeing our Black asses from slavery!)

Who, you might ask, is the Slave Center's current CEO? The answer is -- Spencer Crew. (He might deny it. He might hang his head down low when admitting it. And/or he might work hard to promote the struggles of every other race while refusing to present an accurate portrayal of his race, but the truth is, Crew is an African American.) Not only does the Slave Center present a weak "whitened" version of the way Blacks gained our freedom, now the Slave Center has a white man as the CEO!!!

Cincinnati's Slave Center is an affront and insult to African Americans. (Very few people know that the City of Cincinnati gave several million tax dollars to help build this monstrosity.) Do I even have to ask if the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum is run by a Nazi or a German? Would the Holocaust Museum ever be run by a non-Jewish person? Would the Jews ever let a Black person run a museum dedicated to telling their story? Don't be silly! Of course they'd never do such a thing. American Negroes are the only race in the world that would tolerate another race, our former slave masters no less, telling our story and running a museum bearing the name of a route used to free our people from slavery. (And Black Fist General Kabaka Oba is right to ask how in the Hell did a huge plaque and picture of Carl Lindner get in the so-called Underground Railroad Freedom Center when there isn't a single statue of Harriet Tubman in there?!)

So who made the decision to give Spencer's job to Pepper? Interestingly enough, although they claim Blacks run the Slave Center, and aren't just there as highly paid janitors & maids (they also claim the Slave Center isn't run by, and doesn't take orders from, Procter & Gamble), the head Negroe in Charge, Edwin Rigaud, who has a fancy title of "former president and founding director of the center", was quoted in the November 19th edition of the Cincinnati Enquirer saying

...there is no plan to replace Crew or move him to another position.

"...If I have anything to do with it, he will stay where he is," Rigaud said.

Guess massa had to remind the overseer that he wasn't in charge after all! According to the Enquirer, Rigaud said Crew would stay where he is if he had anything to do with it. Don't get it twisted. Until today, Crew's position was President and CEO. After today, he has lost one of his title and is now just the President. (Of course, this is questionable.)

One reason why John's son, David Pepper, got so few Black votes is because Black people (and many white people) detest the Pepper's arrogance. Pepper thought he could buy the election and deserved to be the Mayor. David's daddy thinks he can buy Black people's history and expects us to thank him and bestow our gratitude on him.

On behalf of the staff, management, and supporters of the Cincinnati Black Blog, we remind John that all Blacks aren't for sale! Additionally, we say FUCK YOU PUNK to John Pepper.

Nate - I finally agree with you. The Undeground Freedom Center was a complete waste of money. A way to appease blacks who don't give a shit anyway. Nobody goes there, why would they? The place is a money sieve. What an incredible waste. Thanks for exposing it. The only thing I fear is that John Pepper might be able to salvage this thing instead of bulldozing it.

nate,

you are way off-base here. according to the same article, pepper has donated several million $$ of his own money to the "slave center" and, as CEO, that is what he is there to raise--moola!

i don't know mr. crew, but it is not unusual, in a museum setting in particular, for the "artistic" or "executive" director to be in charge of the programming and a totally different person to be in charge of the finances (aka "development"). the skills essential for each of these roles is not necessarily found in one person.

Sad to see a post like this. It's pure race-baiting of the lowest kind. In fact, I find it hard to believe that the owner of this blog wrote it. It seems more of the kind of thing we'd get from General Kubaka, or whatever his name is.

Why is this kind of ignorant crap necessary, Nate?

The worst thing that ever happened to Cincinnati was Alicia Reese. Her thug tactics brought out the worse in everybody.

And, as someone pointed out, John Pepper donated millions to the Museum, yet you insist in calling him and his family racists.

Well, that's it for you. In one fell swoop you've destroyed all the crediability the Cincinnati Black Blog worked so hard to get.

So sad...

Why do we always cut off our noses to spite our face?

Is it something in our genes?

I suggest that what is needed in the Black Community is money and jobs in that order. With money we can create jobs and opportunities. This Freedom Center is the perfect size for a Casino. Imagine the money that could be generated if we as Black People of Cincinnati owned and operated this Casino.

Wow, Nate you have no idea what you are talking about. I am black and I know Mr. Pepper and when I was need of money for college, he gave it to me out of his pocket. Nate, what are u basing your thoughts on?
